To provide a discharge treatment method and a discharge treatment device of waste batteries capable of discharging a plural of waste unit cells connected in series together.SOLUTION: In a discharge treatment method of waste batteries performing discharge treatment of a plural of waste unit cells, a main circuit resistor is connected between an anode of one end and a cathode of the other end of the plural of waste unit cells connected in series, and auxiliary circuit resistors and auxiliary switches are respectively connected in series between the anode and the cathode of each of the plural of waste unit cells. The method comprises a normal time discharge step of discharging the plural of waste unit cells by flowing a discharge current of the plural of waste unit cells into the main circuit resistor, and a discharge step during polarity inversion of connecting the auxiliary circuit resistors to continuously discharge the waste unit cells not in a polarity inversion state by closing the auxiliary switches connected with the waste unit cells in the polarity inversion state when some of the plural of waste unit cells are put into the polarity inversion state due to overdischarge during the normal time discharge step.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
