To provide a surface layer coating material for a radioactive pollutant and a surface layer coating structure for a radioactive pollutant that can coat a surface layer for a long time and can prevent generation of erosion or unevenness of a cover soil.SOLUTION: In the surface layer coating material for a radioactive pollutant used for coating the surface layer of a radioactive pollutant, the surface layer coating material is a barite crushed stone of which weight per unit volume is not smaller than γt=4 t/m, the maximum particle diameter is 20 mm or less, and the particle size distribution can be compacted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
