The present invention relates to a viscoelastic gel comprising a therapeutically effective amount of liraglutide, having no block or graft copolymer, characterized by a yield value of 200 Pa to 3000 Pa and a pour point of 300 Pa to 3500 Pa. The present invention also provides a method of controlling blood glucose levels by administering such gels subcutaneously once weekly or once every other week to a subject in need thereof.
