PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foreign matter removal device capable of extending a backwash time as possible for improving a backwash effect of a strainer.SOLUTION: A foreign matter removal device comprises: a foreign matter transport pipeline 30 for performing backwash to a strainer 20 by a purge gas, for transporting detached foreign matters with the purge gas; a foreign matter removal hopper 34 which is provided on a downstream of the foreign matter transport pipeline 30; a foreign matter removal filter 35 which is provided in the foreign matter removal hopper 34 for capturing the foreign matter; an exhaust pipeline 40 which is connected to the foreign matter removal hopper 34 and evacuates the gas which passed the foreign matter removal filter 35; an exhaust adjustment valve 42 provided in the exhaust pipeline 40; and a control part 94 for controlling the exhaust adjustment valve 42. The control part 94 receives the foreign matters and purge gas into the foreign matter removal hopper 34 from the foreign matter transport pipeline 30, and evacuates the gas which passed the foreign matter removal filter 35 from the foreign matter removal hopper 34 by controlling the exhaust adjustment valve 42, and relaxes pressure increase speed in the foreign matter removal hopper 34.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
