PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method enabling amount of sulfur oxide contained in exhaust gas from iron ore pellet production equipment to be effectively reduced without involving installation of exhaust gas desulfurization equipment or the like in grate-kiln type equipment for producing an iron ore pellet containing CaO.SOLUTION: A method for reducing sulfur oxide amount in exhaust gas exhausted from equipment 1 for producing an iron ore pellet containing CaO is provided in which a relationship between S content in the iron ore pellet at a cooler 4 outlet and sulfur oxide amount in the exhaust gas from the equipment 1 is obtained, a relationship between FeO content in the iron ore pellet at a cooler 4 inlet and the S content in the iron ore pellet at the cooler 4 outlet is obtained, a relationship between the FeO content in the iron ore pellet at the cooler 4 inlet and the amount of sulfur oxide in the exhaust gas is obtained by using the relationship between the S content and amount of sulfur oxide and the relationship between the Fe content and the S content, and Fe content in the iron ore pellet supplied to a cooler 4 is controlled by using the relationship between the obtained FeO content in the iron ore pellet and sulfur oxide amount in the exhaust gas to reduce amount of the sulfur oxide in the exhaust gas.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
