To provide an improved material with a high relative permittivity and a low dielectric loss which can be employed as a dielectric for applications in the high-frequency range.SOLUTION: A glass ceramic includes at least the following constituents (in mol% on the oxide basis): SiOfrom 4 to 6.25, AlOfrom 6 to 9, BOfrom 0 to 2, TiOfrom 25 to 65, ZrOfrom 1 to 15, REOfrom 0 to less than 5, and BaO from 10 to 30, provided that SiO+AlO+BO≤15, where RE is lanthanum, another lanthanoid or yttrium, and where Ti may be replaced up to 10% by Hf, Nb, V and Ta.SELECTED DRAWING: None
