Described herein are poly (aryl ether) (“PAE”) adhesive compositions comprising at least one PAE chelator. A PAE chelator is a PAE polymer. In some embodiments, the PAE adhesive composition can optionally include one or more poly (aryl ether ketone) polymers that are different from the PAE chelator. The PAE adhesive composition can be incorporated into a polymer-metal bond to improve its strength. In some such embodiments, the adhesive composition can be disposed between a portion of the plastic component and a portion of the metal component of the polymer-metal bond. In some embodiments, the PAE adhesive composition can be used in combination with one or more adhesion promoters that are different from the PAE adhesive composition. In some embodiments, a polymer-metal bond comprising a PAE chelator can be desirably incorporated into a portable electronic component. [Selection figure] None
