PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red fluophor narrow in half width of a luminescence peak and excellent in light-emitting property, a manufacturing method therefor, a fluophor-containing composition and a light-emitting device using the fluophor, and an image display unit and a luminaire using the light-emitting device.SOLUTION: There is provided a fluophor containing a crystal phase having a chemical composition represented by the following formula [1], and having percentage of Mn based on total molar number of Mand Mn of 0.1 mol% to 40 mol%, and having specific surface area of 1.3 m/g or less.
