PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately accomplish prescribed setting while maintaining satisfactory sealing performance.SOLUTION: A magnetic setting apparatus 1 comprises a setting unit 10 and a magnetic key 30. A plurality of Hall elements are arranged on a plane and built into the setting unit 10. The magnetic key 30 has a plurality of magnets so built into it as to coincide with the position of one of the Hall elements, and each pair of the magnets opposing the Hall elements are so combined with each of the Hall elements that the S pole and the N pole of each magnet are arranged to be rotationally asymmetric. Further, the setting unit 10 is configured to perform prescribed setting if, when a combination of the S pole and the N pole of the magnet opposing a Hall element differs every time, the detection pattern of the output value of each Hall element obtained for each of two or more times of combining the magnetic key 30 with the setting unit 10 coincides with a predetermined first pattern of the output value.
