Cleaning systems for food-related equipment and surfaces, such as but not limited to steel belt baking surfaces, can be translated to position the discharge manifold above the surface to be cleaned. It has a pivotable arm. The arm has a supply line and a return line for the salt composition, the salt composition comprising one or more of sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium phosphate, and no liquid component. The salt impacts the surface and cleans the surface kinetically and chemically. The discharged salt is collected by drawing salt into the filter unit through the return line. The translatable and pivotable arm can consist of a telescopic section that forms a telescopic conduit for the return line, or it can consist of a non-telescopic section that forms the return line .
