Heating method of heated material in walking hearth furnace

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating method capable of uniformly heating a heated material entirely not only in an axial direction but also in a radial direction, in heating the columnar heated material by using a walking hearth-type heating furnace while conveying the same in the furnace.SOLUTION: In a method of heating columnar heated materials by using a walking hearth type heating furnace while conveying the same in the furnace, the heated materials are conveyed in the furnace in two rows in total, that is, a first row in which an axial direction is directed in a furnace width direction, and a second row in parallel with the first row similarly in which its axial direction is directed in the furnace width direction, in a state that the heated materials of the second row are shifted by 1/2 pitches when observed from the heated materials of the first row. In transferring the heated materials from groove portions formed at prescribed intervals on a movable hearth to groove portions formed on a fixed hearth at prescribed intervals, the heated materials are brought into contact with side wall faces of the groove portions of the fixed hearth to be rolled into the groove portions of the fixed hearth by self weight.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
