PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily predicting a reduction effect while reducing cost of vibration reduction in a foundation environment.SOLUTION: On a ground surface between a vibration source on the ground surface and an object of vibration reduction, a weight for reducing vibrations is laid in a columnar direction orthogonal to a straight line connecting centers of gravity of the vibration source and the object. A mass in the weight (a mass of the weight per meter with a width B and in the column direction) is represented as m=(1/(1+(α/R)))×m, where m=((1+ν)/π)ρ×√(Bλ), R is a target vibration reduction rate (reduction amount of vibration amplitude/original vibration amplitude), α is a surface wave contribution rate (0α1), mis a mass of clod interacting with the weight of a unit length, ρis a density of a foundation, B is a width (m) of the wight, λ is a wavelength (m) of a surface wave defined as a vibration reduction object, and ν is a Poisson ratio of the foundation. The vibration reduction rate R and the surface wave contribution rate α are set, and the weight is laid in the orthogonal direction in accordance with the mass mof the weight calculated thereby, such that vibrations can be reduced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
