PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method enabling direct and quantitative observation of a crystal of a complex using ionic liquid and transmission electron microscopy, and also a sample for observation.SOLUTION: When observing a complex crystal S using transmission electron microscopy, part or all of a complex sample is immersed in choline-based ionic liquid L or an aqueous solution thereof before observation. As to a sample for observation, a complex sample 18 is set on a sample substrate for transmission electron microscopy, and at least an observation surface of the complex sample is covered with the choline-based ionic liquid or a dry matter thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
