Techniques are provided that allow for signaling of physical layer parameters in a shared radio frequency spectrum band or a dedicated radio frequency spectrum band (or any available radio frequency spectrum band). One or more physical layer channels may be used to transmit physical layer parameters, and different portions of the channel (s) may carry physical layer information for different groups of UEs. The base station may configure the UEs in the UE group to monitor specific channel resources based on the UE group. In this way, the base station may transmit physical layer parameters that may be received by the UE to receive wireless communications for one or more subframes. The base station may be a physical layer to be monitored using physical hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) indicator channel (PHICH), physical control format indicator channel (PCFICH), physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), or a combination thereof.
