PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method enabling analysis of trace metal impurity in a carbon sample.SOLUTION: The sample preparation method includes: an ashing process of ashing a carbon sample by bringing oxygen plasma into contact with the carbon sample in an inorganic-glass-made vessel; an acid dissolution process of dissolving an ash content by adding an acid to the carbon sample after the ashing process; and a hydroacid dissolution process of transferring the carbon sample after the acid dissolution process into a hydrogen-fluoride-resistant acid vessel, and dissolving the carbon sample by adding hydrofluoric acid to it. The acid is an acid that does not dissolve the inorganic-glass-made vessel.
