PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material that can be produced easily at low cost and has the ability to remove harmful materials, particularly heavy metals and aromatic compounds.SOLUTION: It is found out that white clay treated with seawater, montmorillonite treated with seawater, and/or vermiculite treated with seawater, particularly the white clay treated with seawater, can excellently adsorb metals and aromatic compounds.SELECTED DRAWING: None
