PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of suppressing loss of refining by heat melting an auxiliary feedstock quickly even when particle diameter of the auxiliary feedstock injected into an arc type blowing electric furnace is large (for example over 25 mm).SOLUTION: There is provided a method of melting an auxiliary feedstock injected into an arc type bottom blowing electric furnace 10, the auxiliary feedstock contains one or more of oxide, carbonate and hydroxide, the auxiliary feedstock with sieve mesh of over 25 mm is 5 to 30 mass% of charging material in the furnace, the auxiliary feedstock with sieve mesh under 3.15 mm is 3 mass% of charging material in the furnace and basicity of 2.5 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
