PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress warping strain generated on a gearwheel after hardening, without increasing cost of the gearwheel.SOLUTION: Hardening is performed by immersing a gearwheel 100 which has been subjected to carburization processing to a cooling medium 300, in a state in which a bottom face 102 of the gearwheel 100 is the cooling medium 300 side, and movement of the gearwheel 100 along a rotary shaft (a thickness direction) is not restricted.
