PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater navigating body detection device for surely detecting an underwater navigating body of a wake-forming method.SOLUTION: An underwater navigating body detection device includes: a capture net; a towing rope; a towing rope attachment unit; a capture net approach detection unit; and an underwater navigating body approach determination unit. The capture net is a net to be towed by the towing rope attached to the vessel by the towing rope attachment unit and the capture net is for capturing the underwater navigating body approaching from behind the vessel. When the vessel is navigated, since the towing rope is in a tensioned state, the distance between the towing rope attachment unit and the capture net is approximately constant. Here, when the underwater travelling body approaches the vessel from behind, the capture net is pushed in the navigating direction of the vessel and the capture net approaches the towing rope attachment unit. A capture net approach amount measuring unit measures this approach amount. The underwater navigating body approach determination unit monitors this approach amount and determines that the underwater navigating body has approached when a prescribed threshold is exceeded.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
