PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting Geobacillus stearothermophilus, which is bacteria that form spores at high temperature, by using a nucleic acid amplification method and also provide a primer pair for detecting Geobacillus stearothermophilus.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for detecting Geobacillus stearothermophilus, the method including a nucleic acid amplification step of using a primer pair as a combination of forward primer and reverse primers having specific sequences originated from a gene encoding 16S rRNA of Geobacillus stearothermophilus. Using the nucleic acid, extracted from bacteria contained in a subject sample as a template, the nucleic acid is amplified using the primer pair.SELECTED DRAWING: None
