PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prevention/therapeutic agent and a functional food for hypertension which are easy to ingest daily and derived from natural product useful for prevention or treatment of hypertension.SOLUTION: The prevention/therapeutic agent of the hypertension contains a dry substance and/or extract of a Persicaria plant as an active ingredient. As a Persicaria plant, water pepper is preferred. The prevention/therapeutic agent for hypertension is also excellent in safeness and taste because of deriving from a natural product. The prevention/therapeutic agent for hypertension is easy to ingest daily and useful for prevention of hypertension or prevention/improvement of treating.
