Electric machine comprising a rotor with a plurality of rotor poles adapted to be induced by a magnetic flux, a stator positioned concentrically around the rotor, the stator comprising a plurality of stator poles extending inward from a stator housing to the rotor wherein a stator winding receiving space is provided between adjacent stator poles, a stator winding provided around each stator pole to be received in the stator winding receiving space, the stator winding being adapted to generate the magnetic flux in use, wherein a first stator winding receiving space is used in each stator winding receiving space a stator winding is provided which is provided around a first stator pole and a second stator winding is arranged which is provided around a second stator pole which is adjacent to the first stator pole.
