A process for preparing aquila (meth) acrylate from methyl (meth) acrylate for the purpose of obtaining homopolymer esters for use as additives for improving the cold flow properties of fuels, biofuels and mixtures. The present invention addresses the synthesis of methacrylate and alkyl acrylate monomers of different chain sizes, as well as the homopolymerization of these monomers. The homopolymer esters obtained can be used as antifreeze additives, are able to improve the cold flow behavior of biodiesel and diesel by interacting with fatty esters derived from oils of vegetable and animal origin, biodiesel / diesel mixtures, biodisel / biodiesel, as with paraffins present in petroleum derivatives. The present invention shows homopolymer esters being used as antifreeze additives with excellent performance, especially in reducing the pour point of fuels and biofuels.
