Boron Compound, Near Infrared Absorber, Synthetic Resin, and Near Infrared Absorption Material The present invention provides a new boron compound that has a maximum absorption wavelength in the near infrared light range and has low absorption of the range. visible light thus is excellent as a near infrared absorber; a near infrared absorber using the new boron compound, and a synthetic resin composition absorbing the near infrared using the new boron compound. The present invention specifically provides: a boron compound which is represented by the general formula (1), wherein each of R 1 1 ar 2 Ar 16 is an hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and a synthetic resin composition absorbing the near infrared containing the boron compound as a near infrared absorber. in the general formula (1), each of R 1 1 ar 2 Ar 16 16 represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a cyano group, an amino group, an optionally substituted alkyl group having 1-20 atoms carbon, or the like.
