The present invention highlights the use of cellulose nanostructures in polyolefin foam compositions, promoting greater cell nucleation, obtaining superior results and properties compared to the use of conventional microcarriers. The polyolefin foams of the present invention may be chosen from poly (ethylene-vinylacetate) polymeric matrix, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (eva), and may be applied to any polyolefinic polymeric matrix, such as polyethylene (pe) , polypropylene (pp) or polyvinyl chloride pvc. Chemical treatments in cellulose are also described, giving better compatibility with the polymer, and the means of incorporation are discussed. The present invention is in the fields of engineering, in particular materials and chemistry.
