ENRICHED FRACTION IN POLYSACCHARIDES OBTAINED FROM AGAVE SISALANA RESIDUE IN COSMETIC COMPOSITIONS

The present invention is concerned with the use of a polysaccharide enriched fraction obtained from the residue of agave sisalana leaves after shredding in cosmetic compositions for topical use. According to the present invention, the polysaccharide enriched fraction is safe for use in cosmetic compositions and has antioxidant action by different mechanisms. The invention describes the use of said fraction in stable cosmetic formulations which, due to the antioxidant action, may be used to prevent skin aging. The compositions comprise the polysaccharide-enriched fraction at concentrations ranging from 0.01% to 10.0% by weight in cosmetically acceptable vehicles.
