The present principles relate to a method for intra-predictive coding of a coding unit comprising image data, said intra-predictive coding depending on a prediction tree and a transform tree, characterized in that the method additionally comprises obtaining said prediction tree by spatial partitioning of the coding unit according to a non-square partition type, determining said transform tree from said coding unit so that each of its leaves is incorporated into a single unit of said prediction tree obtained; and signaling, in a signal, the size of the leaves of said transform tree and said non-square partition type.
