a bicondylar knee implant with improved fixation means for surface-only reshaping that supports the weight of the medial and lateral femoral condyles while preserving the cruciate ligaments and preventing dislocation of the patella. the inventive device includes metallic convex articular surfaces (ii) for reshaping of the medial and lateral femoral condyles, and non-articular concave multifacial surfaces to be attached to the resected distal surfaces of the femur. The prosthesis provides claws (2, 3, 4, 5) located at the anterior and posterior ends of the medial and lateral metallic condyles, which will firmly secure the implant against the resected femoral condyle. The prosthesis is designed to be implanted through direct lateral access and not to reshape the patellofemoral joint. In addition, an electromechanical mini-robot or miniaturizer is used to perform femoral and tibial bone cuts using an electromagnetic bone mincer.
