An installation and method for forming a fibrous preform is presented. The installation comprises a follower roller (400). the follower roll presents in section a profile having at least a first slope (410) forming an angle with the follower roll axis (x400) and a slope, a second slope (420) forming a second angle with the different follower roll axis from the first angle. the installation further comprising at least one counter (20) having a complementary shape of the first and second inclinations, the installation comprising retaining means (24, 25) of each counter configured to hold said counter at a predetermined distance from the first and second inclinations. or configured to apply a counter contact pressure (20) on the first and second inclines. the counter has at least one relief (411) corresponding to a section variation of the counter.
