The invention provides methods for identifying the risk of relapse in patients with schizophrenia. The invention also provides methods for early detection of schizophrenia relapse. The disclosed methods use symptom monitoring according to positive and negative syndrome scale (pnass) parameters. The methods of the invention may be used to provide early intervention to decrease or prevent relapse in patients with schizophrenia.
