The multimedia connection point may include a device database (316), a communication unit (31 2), and a logical unit (314). A service identity is associated with the multimedia connection point and is valid in the multimedia service network service network. when a session request is received, a session is established for the benefit of at least one device on the private network using said service identity and capabilities of at least one mentioned device. and thereby no individual service identity is required for the selected device (s). If the session request is a session invitation from an incoming request, at least one referenced device is selected based on the capacity requirements for a session.
