Method for Fast Three-Pole Reclosing on Shunt Reactive Compensation Transmission Lines The present invention describes a method for controlling overvoltages during the reclosing maneuver of shunt reactive compensation transmission lines. After the breaker opens a lt, the interaction between the line transverse admittance and the reactive compensation reactor inductance causes the voltage between the breaker poles to assume oscillatory (beat) form. the optimum point to close the breaker corresponds to the region where the amplitude of the voltage beating between the breaker poles is minimal. The developed method presents greater security in determining the first region of the minimum beat regardless of the voltage wave passing through zero. This procedure also allows a longer time to operate the circuit breaker since the detection of the optimum region for reclosing occurs with several fundamental frequency cycles of the advance. This method should be incorporated into the control logic of a digital relay for three-line reclosing of transmission lines generating a new digital relay for adaptive three-pole reclosing of shunt reactive compensation transmission lines.
