One-pot synthesis of nanoparticles and liquid polymer for rubber applications One method for performing one-pot synthesis of a mixture of nanoparticles and liquid polymer includes polymerizing a first monomer and optionally a second monomer in a hydrocarbon solvent to form the polymer. liquid. polymerization is terminated before completion with a cooling agent. then, a polymerization initiator charge, and a mixture of crosslinking agent and aromatic mono-vinyl monomer are added. This causes additional polymerization whereby the nanoparticles are formed having a core including the crosslinking agent, and a shell including the first monomer or first monomer and second monomer. Nanoparticle / liquid polymer mixtures resulting from the method and rubber compositions incorporating the mixtures are also disclosed.
