Hypspectral fertility identification and egg gender a hyperspectral method for detecting the current condition of an avian egg is disseminated in which a neural net algorithm is used to compare the spectrum of a test egg to a spectral library. The method can detect fertility with more than 90% on placement day and the sex of the cock with reliability greater than 75% on the 12th day after placement.
