A fishing rod rest which protects a fishing rod and fishing line from damage while at rest on a supporting object. In particular the invention relates to the protection of a fishing rod and fishing line from damage while at rest on a supporting object. Having a tube (1) through which a fishing line (6) can pass and a means for attachment (7) which secures the device to a fishing rod (8). The fishing rod (8) is at rest on a supporting object (16).
