The present invention relates to a method for preparing polymeric nanoparticles with diameters less than 50 nm loaded with essential oils. Said method includes the steps of a) preparing an aqueous solution of a surfactant or a mixture of surfactants and an initiator; b) dosing the mixture of a monomer or several monomers and an essential oil or several essential oils at a flow allowing operating under monomer avidity conditions; c) give an additional reaction time at the end of the dosing period; d) recovering the nanoparticles loaded with oil by lyophilization or spray drying.
