The present disclosure is related to a process for the treatment of urea suspensions in non-polar organic solvents under thermal treatment conditions in an autoclave; the method can be carried out within a temperature range that goes from 200°C and up to 300°C using different time intervals, preferably from two to 24 hours. The methodology allows the preparation in a single high performance step of the oxidized nitrides; this offers advantages over traditional thermolysis methods that achieve yields of around 10% of unoxidized material, product that has to be treated later to introduce functional groups containing oxygen. The manufacturing of prototypes of electrochemical sensors is also described using the products obtained solvothermally and the use of these to detect micromolar quantities of hydrogen peroxide, demonstrating that the synthesized materials offer alternatives for the non-enzymatic detection of biomolecules of importance in biological processes.
