The present invention refers to the development of an efficient process for the micropropagation of vanilla. Vanilla (Vanilla spp.) is an orchid commercially cultivated since this produces vanilla, a flavoring substance widely demanded in the food and cosmetic industry. Nowadays, this specie is commercially spread by the asexual via by means of setts, which are frequently obtained from the same commercial plantations. This propagation method has contributed to exhibit serious problems of endogamy, which are negatively affecting the proper commercial exploitation thereof. Considering the aforementioned problem as well as the important lack of vegetative propagules that is being produced in this cultivation, it is important to have an efficient process for the commercial propagation of this species. The present invention therefore proposes an efficient process for the micropropagation of vanilla at a commercial scale using a system of Containers of Automated Immersion. The process compr ises the following stages: Stage 0. Selection and pretreatment of mother plants. Stage 1. Establishment of aseptic crops, Stage 2. Multiplication in vitro, Stage 3. Elongation and rooting and Stage 4. Acclimatization.
