An efficient manner of halogenating positions 2 and 6 in 8 thyomethyl-boron dipyrromethene is discovered, this product may offer different reaction sites. With the halogen in positions 2 and 6, different reactions can be performed over said positions. Having halogens in the boron-dipyrromethene along with the thiomethyl offers a product with different reactive sites. The product of 8-thiomethyl -2,6-dihalogen-boron dipyrromethene is obtained with a high chemical yield, which gives it a substantial value upon being obtained in large quantities and without the need of performing a purification involving a column chromatography.
