The present invention relates to a pallet load protector, a forklift truck provided with it, and a method for protecting cargo on a pallet. The pallet load protector comprises: - a frame with a mounting element adapted to attach the pallet load protector to or on the forklift; - a pallet contact body mounted on or on the frame adapted to come into contact with the pallet when picking it up; and - a sensor or sensor system operatively connected to the pallet load protector and adapted to measure an impact indication when picking up the pallet.
