The invention relates to a bumper for a loading/unloading dock, dock and distribution centre provided therewith and method therefore. The bumper according to the invention comprises: — a housing configured for mounting at the dock; and — a moveable housing part comprising a bumper element configured for contacting or engaging a docking vehicle, wherein the moveable housing part comprises a rotation mechanism with a rotation axis that in a mounted state of the bumper substantially extends in a vertical direction in or at the housing and is configured for enabling a rotation of the bumper element between a resting state and a protecting state.
