The invention relates to a bumper (10) for a loading/unloading dock, dock and distribution centre provided therewith and method therefore. The bumper comprises a housing (26) configured for mounting at the dock and a moveable housing part (30) comprising a bumper element (38) configured for contacting or engaging a docking vehicle. The moveable housing part (30) comprises a rotation mechanism with a rotation axis (36) that in a mounted state of the bumper (10) substantially extends in a vertical direction in or at the housing (26) and is configured for enabling a rotation of the bumper element (38) between a resting state and a protecting state.
