PROCESS FOR PREPARING SOIL SAMPLES WITH A VIEW TO PERFORMING HEAVY-METAL CONCENTRATION SPECTROSCOPIC ANALYSIS BY ATOMIC EMISSION SPECTROMETRY
The invention relates to a process used for preparing soil samples meant for determining the nature and concentration of heavy metals in soils by atomic emission spectrometry by using as thermal excitation source a laser beam with high energy density. According to the invention, the process consists in manufacturing cylindrical tablets which include the soil powder to be analyzed in a soluble glass matrix by embedding precisely weighted amounts of the soil powder () to be analyzed into a soluble glass matrix () which is also precisely weighted, followed by depositing the resulting paste-like mass in a low-height metal tray (), subsequently coupled to a metal cylinder () supplied from a cylinder with high-purity carbon dioxide for solidifying the sample.
