DISTANCE AND CABLE ATTENUATION MEASURING DEVICE FOR DETERMINATION OF LOCATION OF AMPLIFIERS IN THE CABLE TV DISTRIBUTION DESIGN

A distance and attenuation measuring device that includes a frame having a handle in the upper end a support member securely attached on said frame designed to hold a container, a wheel rotatably connected with said frame such that said wheel rotate relative to a surface and a sensing device incorporated with said wheel and a controller mounted within the container securely attached with said frame. The device was programmed to accept input of attenuation constant of specific cable and multiply that constant to the distance travelled by the wheel measured using the sensing device attached to that wheel. The device was also programmed to accept threshold level of signals that signifies the need for amplification in that portion of the distribution system. The accumulated attenuation measured by the sensing device and the wheel will be compared to the threshold level of signal inputted via keypad. When they are equal, the device will create an audible sound and the device will generate an audible alarm signifying the need for amplifier in that particular area of the Distribution System.
