The present invention provides methods for producing enriched factor H compositions from plasma. The method comprises the steps of: (a) precipitating proteins from a cryogenic plasma fraction in a first precipitation step with 6% to 10% alcohol at a pH between 7.0 and 7.5, to a first precipitate and a first supernatant receive; and (b) extracting factor H from the precipitate with a factor H extraction buffer, thereby producing an enriched factor H composition.
