The present invention is related to a method for providing sample preparation, nucleic acid extraction and diagnosis of cancer and infectious diseases from nucleic acids in samples like blood, tissue, saliva, urine by means of diagnosis device (10) comprising a measurement part (12) and a paper-based chip (11) to be inserted into said device, where said method is performed. The extracted nucleic acid is bound to metal nanoparticles and magnetic nanoparticles and detected by electrochemistry using an electrode, for example a graphene modified pencil lead electrode.
