Provided are a method for playing a video based on a VR head-mounted device, and a VR head-mounted device. The method comprises: establishing a communication bridge between a VR scene and a decoder by means of a dynamic link library, wherein the dynamic link library can be invoked in the VR scene, and using the decoder to decode a video file into video data adapted to the VR scene, so that a video picture can be rendered in the VR scene according to the video data adapted to the VR scene, and a video can thus be played in the VR scene, therefore meeting the requirement of a user for watching the video in the VR scene.
