An application program hot update method and apparatus, and a terminal and a storage medium. The method comprises: starting an application program, and loading a mapping file and multiple current version resource file packages, wherein the mapping file records a service function identifier and a corresponding resource file package identifier (302); generating a version update request, and sending the version update request to a server, such that the server queries, according to the version update request, whether there is an update file corresponding to a new version, and obtains the update file if so (304); receiving the update file returned by the server, wherein the update file comprises a plurality of new version resource file packages, the new version resource file package having the resource file package identifier (306); dynamically loading a new version resource file package corresponding to the service function identifier by using the mapping file (308); and if it is detected that the new version resource file package fails to load, rolling back to the current resource file package (310).
