A fitting method and fitting system based on an intelligent terminal. The fitting method comprises the following steps: acquiring a portrait picture comprising a portrait element; acquiring a target clothing picture comprising a clothing element; merging the portrait picture with the target clothing picture so as to form a merged picture, so that the portrait element in the portrait picture is dressed with the clothing element in the target clothing picture; and displaying the merged picture. By means of using the method, virtual fitting is implemented in a convenient and intelligent manner, and a physical fitting effect can be achieved without the physical wearing of clothes to be tried on.
