RELIABLE CUT-THROUGH SWITCHING FOR TIME SENSITIVE NETWORKS

Embodiments include devices and methods for processing data packets including a data frame defined according to IEEE 802.1 Time Sensitive Networking standards. It is proposed to use the source MAC address field of the header of the so defined data frames in order to include an error detection mechanism that provide coverage for the header of the data frames. Thereafter, cut-through switching method can be used by engaging in the forwarding process soon after the destination MAC address of the data frame has been examined and error detection on the header of the data frame is successful.
